American Guardian Warranty continues to get asked the question of why do you call this warranty a vehicle service contract?
Almost every new vehicle comes with a warranty from the manufacturer – which covers manufacturer defects or failures for a period of time after purchase and is automatically included when you, the customer, purchase the vehicle. A standard warranty period is 3 years/36,000 miles, but may vary, and expires when the mileage or years exceed the limitation.
Vehicle service contracts or agreements, also known as extended warranty plans, are designed to offer similar peace of mind. Service contracts are optional agreements that are provided for an additional charge. These agreements protect your vehicle from certain mechanical and electrical components that may not be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, and/or extend mechanical coverage beyond the time/mileage limits of the manufacturer’s warranty.
Service contracts cover the costs of repair, parts, labor, and/or sales tax for certain repairs or replacements. They work similarly to the manufacturer warranty that comes with most new vehicles, but offer choices of coverage and optional benefits.
